Features & Guide

The game rules and editable scoring values.

1. Game setup

Estimation Mate tracks four players. Enter and confirm the bids, then enter the Tricks values. Bid and Tricks fields accept whole numbers from 0 through 13 only; negative numbers, decimals, text, and out-of-range values are rejected. Bids cannot total exactly 13. The four Tricks values must total exactly 13.

A Standard game has 18 rounds. Rounds 14–18 follow No Trump, Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, then Clubs.

The Rotate control switches the same mobile scoresheet between portrait and landscape framing. Your choice is remembered on this device.

2. Scoring

Estimation Mate scores Egyptian Classic rules (standard win points + bid, miss − trick difference, 8+ = the editable Call/With table). The table below shows the defaults; the small Settings panel can change these values.

Double game — at least 3 players share the highest bidwhole round ×2
Sa'aydeh — everyone missesround scores 0; next round ×2, ×4, ×8… until someone makes

A round is under when total bids are below 13 and over when they are above 13 — that decides the Dash values above. Dash is a bid of 0 declared with the Dash chip; it pays fixed amounts (above), not the standard bid/trick formula.

Risk is carried by one player (tap their Risk chip) whenever the total bids are 2 or more away from 13 (11 or less, 15 or more) — the app requires it before the round can proceed. The marked player's normal score receives a fixed addition: Risk is +10 when they win or −10 when they lose; Double Risk is +20/−20; Triple Risk is +30/−30; and so on. A Dash player can never carry Risk. Totals of 12 or 14 need no Risk; a total of 13 is not allowed (dealer rule); if all four bids are 0 the round cannot proceed at all.

Double game: when at least 3 players share the round's highest bid, every player's calculated score for that round is doubled. Three matching lower bids do not qualify when another player has bid higher. This rule is toggled in Settings and is on by default. Sa'aydeh stacks with the round-wide multiplier, and the fixed Risk adjustment is included before the final multiplier.

3. Call role — Caller & With

The Caller is the bid winner — the highest bidder (ties: first in seat order). Every other player who bids the same number as the Caller is automatically With. An optional Settings toggle, Allow manual With below the Caller, shows a With button that can mark a lower bidder manually when their bid is 4 or higher. It is off by default; automatic matching works in either mode. With players score exactly like the Caller: making the bid earns the Call win, missing pays the Call penalty.

Example: bids 4, 4, 4, 5 — the 5-bidder is the Caller and the three 4-bidders are regular players (they did not match the Caller's number). Bids 6, 6, 3, 1 — the two 6-bidders are Caller and With; the 3- and 1-bidders are regular.

There is no manual Call chip — the Caller is always the highest bidder.

4. Calls of 8–13

A Call or With bid of 8–13 uses the editable table below. The defaults are the familiar square-based wins and half-rounded-up losses; enter loss values with the minus sign. The same values apply to Caller and With.

CallWinLose
8 Call+64−32
9 Call+81−41
10 Call+100−50
11 Call+121−61
12 Call+144−72
13 Call+169−85

5. One rule set

Estimation Mate now plays a single rule set — Egypt — Classic (street/cafés) — the rules most Egyptians actually play. The regional presets, Rule set selector, and Super Call controls are not part of this app; Risk is a fixed per-player rule (see Scoring above), and Settings holds the small set of values you can still adjust.

6. Settings

Settings is a small panel with editable Scoring values for Regular, Caller/With, the 8–13 Call/With table, Only, and Dash; a Maximum Dash bid from 1–3; the optional manual With control; and the Sa'aydeh and Double toggles. Manual With is off by default and, when enabled, shows the With button for lower bids of 4 or higher. Fixed rules are marked Cannot be changed: 18 rounds, total bids of 13, maximum individual bid 13, Tricks total 13, and the Risk ladder. The final-five default order is shown for reference; each final-five suit is edited directly in its round and duplicates are allowed. Saving Settings recalculates completed rounds after confirmation; Reset defaults restores the canonical defaults.

7. Saving and sharing

Save stores a game in this browser. The live game and unfinished Drafts auto-save, and Undo supports multiple steps during the session. Any completed round can be edited; Apply Changes recalculates that round and every later round. After Round 18, Finish Game shows final rankings and ties, and Add Extra Round is always available. A top-two gap of 13 or less is shown only as a recommendation to keep playing. Share creates one private link for multiple read-only viewers; only the host/controller can enter scores.
